Training

I have provided teaching around various psychological ideas and theories to other disciplines (e.g. social workers, medics, nurses, and health visitors). The topics have included:

• The social and emotional needs of looked after children
• The effect of parental mental health on a child
• Preparation training for foster carers and adopters – around attachment
• Managing stress
• Siblings: together or apart (within the care system)
• Communicating with adolescents
• Managing self-harm and suicidal ideation
• Managing transition and separation in under 5s
• The impact of bereavement and trauma
• How to deal with difficult families
• The impact of cancer on the child and family

I am able to deliver any of the above topics either on a half-day or a full-day basis, and can adapt to any professional audience. This list is not exhaustive and so please feel free to message me about any topic you would like training for which is not in this list.

I have also provided a 6-week training course to foster carers around managing behaviour in an attachment-focussed way.
